Hello Thursday, August 2nd 2012
I woke up this morning pretty uncomfortable. I just wanted to have some breakfast so that I could get some Motrin into me. I was very happy that I had my appointment at 8 AM and would be getting some relief very soon. On the way to the doctor's office I was a little nervous because my left eye was so red and was in some pain. It also looked a little swollen so I just hoped that it wasn't getting an infection. I could still see pretty clear with my left eye. Since the light was affecting me so much I wore two pairs of sunglasses to the doctor's office.
When I got to the doctor's office I was relieved almost immediately. They put some anti-inflammatory drops and some numbing drops into my eyes to relieve some of the pain. Then we were off to the operating room where I could lie down and it would be easier for the doctor to remove the contact bandage. After checking my eyes with the magnifying glass he told me that my right cornea had already grown back. He asked me if I sleep on my right side, which I do and that was why the right side had healed faster because the fluids had drained on that side. There were still some patches on my left eye but it was also doing well. The redness, swollenness, and pain were all normal with this procedure.
I laid back and he took out the contact bandage device from my left and right eye. The doctor also placed a regular Acuvue clear contact in my left eye to help with the healing process. Immediately there was a huge drop in my sight. I was still in some pain so I took 1/2 a vicodin and passed out for most of the day.
I woke up a little bit ago and was able to write this posting,. I just need to bring the screen close to my eyes sometimes to check my writing. I would not feel safe driving right now. My eyes are definitely better than before without glasses. There is a lot of haze or fogginess and it's pretty blurry,. Now it's just going to be a waiting game to see how fast my eyes begin to stabilize. Today is definitely worst as far as vision goes but I know that they will start to stabilize and if it's anything like the last 3 days I can't wait to be officially free of glasses and contacts!
