Day 4, 4 days after surgery

Tears or joy!

Today when I woke up I had a tiny bit of discomfort again, but had my breakfast and then took some Motrin. When I got to the doctor's office he checked me eyes again (since I am in the study I get to go everyday this week). Are you ready for this?

I am completely healed (the top layer) in both of my eyes. Vision 20/40 in the right eye and 20/50 in the left eye. I feel like I have bifocal eyes at the moment since I can see super clear up close with the my right eye (typing at the moment with my left eye closed) and I can see pretty clear far away with my left eye (watching TV with left eye). I couldn't be happier! He removed the clear contact Acuvue bandage that was on the left eye since the top layer is all healed.

Dr. Manche explained that there are 5 layers of the cornea that were wiped away on Monday. It normally takes 4-5 days for each layer to grow back (about a month for all 5 layers to grow back). On day 3, I already had the top layer on my right eye healed (Super human here!) So, the next few weeks are the waiting game they said. About every 4-5 days the next layer will grow back until I am 20/20 in each eye if not better. I was already 20/16 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week before the pain kicked in so I have very high hopes! I also would like to thank jamba juice and their fruit and veggie anti-oxidant smoothies for the quick recovery (LOL).

I was so happy heading back to the city this morning with the clarity already after having this type of procedure on Monday, I had some tears of joy while riding Caltrain!

Also, now that the top layer had healed, the nerve endings are covered up so there will not be any pain like there was on day 2-3. Also, for anyone thinking of going through with this procedure, honestly it's not that bad. Take the Motrin and and when it gets worse just take the Vicodin and sleep it off. It's only 1 day of pain and you will have a lifetime of better vision afterwards.

Lastly, it doesn't matter what side you sleep on. Dr. Manche was only joking with me on that, and to think I really tried hard last night sleeping on my left side so that it would be completely healed for today. Haha

On day 4, I am already reading and typing on the computer with normal font, and I could drive it I had to.

I have also been taken off of the Vigamox (antibiotic drop) and I just need to continue with the Predaforte (steroid drop) 4 x a day for the next two weeks and then 2x a day for the following 2 weeks. By that time, I should have all 5 layers healed by then and be at 20/20 if not better! Here I come super vision!
